My son loves them!

By

from Battle Ground, WA

Comments about Champion Boys' Gusto Runner:

My 13 year old son got 2 pairs of new shoes at the beginning of the year.....one more expensive and a pair of these originally for cutting the lawn. He chooses to wear these because he says they are more comfortable! They have lasted without any rips or problems at all! He just got back from summer camp after wearing them all week and they are dirty but are still fine (more for cutting the grass now! lol) He loves them!

Love the look, but the shoe broke within one day.

Comments about Champion Boys' Gusto Runner:

I really, really loved the look of the shoe. My son said the shoe was comfortable. But with only one day of playing one of the holes where the laces go through broke and he can no longer wear them. The shoes are very lightweight. I wish they would have worked out but they didn't.

Nice look, poor quality.

poor quality

Comments about Champion Boys' Gusto Runner:

This sneaker looks great in pictures. I was skeptical of the sole and I was correct to feel that way. You can feel your fingers through the sole. The uppers are so thin and made of a ripable type fabric - foam paper aka wonderfoam...... - I'm afraid the laces will rip out the lace holes.

Such POOR quality!!!!!

Not bad for the Price...

Comments about Champion Boys' Gusto Runner:

My grandson is very tough on shoes, he tends to drag his feet on his bike and wear out the toe portion of the shoes right away. He's had expensive shoes and cheap shoes, and these work just right for the price. Guess if I wanted them to last forever on the toes I'd need to buy him steel toed boots. He likes the variety of Colors, that is if you can find them.....

Comments about Champion Boys' Gusto Runner:

Bought these shoes for my son 2 weeks ago and they are already broken.

This is not the first time I have this problem with sneakers I buy at Payless.

I don't know how the return policy works here, but I think next time I will consider a different vendor and brand.

Just OK

Comments about Champion Boys' Gusto Runner:

Let me preface this review by saying my kids are VERY HARD on shoes. I've tried all brands from cheap to designer and nothing works. I figured what the heck I'll go cheap as I can go and if they fall apart, oh well. Unfortunately, these didn't quite meet my expectations because they fell apart quicker than I even imagined.
Pros: Attractive style (mimics those that rhyme with mikey tree); comfortable; lightweight; relatively inexpensive
Cons: Durability
Specific durability issues in order of occurrence: color on sole areas wears off easily (starting day 1); smooth layer on top separates from mesh underlayer (starting week 1-2); inside lining of sole wears through (week 3-5); looks like a complete mess overall (by week 5-6).
All this said, my kid likes the shoes and finds them comfortable, but they are to the point that they have to be replaced and it hasn't even been two months yet.

My picky son LOVED these shoes

Comments about Champion Boys' Gusto Runner:

My son is very picky about style and especially fit and comfort. He LOVES these and they have actually held up VERY well. We did buy him an expensive pair of Nike for school, but he wants another pair of these in a different color, so absolutely going to buy him another pair!

Works great if you child wears orthotics

By

Comments about Champion Boys' Gusto Runner:

I really like these sneakers. They look super cute, we haven't had any issues when them breaking, they have held up well. My son has had his current pair for 3 mos and they are still holding up nice. I have to say, if your child wears orthotics like mine does, this shoes is perfect. There is plenty of room for the orthotic and my sons says they are super comfy. The only complaint is the price. I think the price is to high for a kids shoe. I usually wait to buy them when there is a sale, especially a BOGO sale.

Thoroughly Disappointed

By

Comments about Champion Boys' Gusto Runner:

I had high hopes for this shoe, as I have the womens version, and love them. However, the kids version of this shoe is not made well, at all.
My son wore them to school, for only a week, and they started falling apart. The smooth material, around the toe (where it meets the mesh) completely separated from the shoe. Also the soft memory foam insole completely broke down, and is hard as a rock. After two weeks of wear, the sides of the shoes are separating from the sole. Into the garbage they go.
