Not Leather

Comments about Rugged Outback Men's Dakota Hiker:

Okay, so they're not leather. No matter. They look good and feel good, right out of the box.. For comfort and style they're my go to footwear. I'm just so glad that I found "Payless". They'll be hearing from me again.

Excellent product at a very reasonable price

Comments about Rugged Outback Men's Dakota Hiker:

I am so happy to be able to get these shoes. I have had trouble with my feet for a long time and recently was able to purchase customized Orthotics and also be able to purchase these shoes (non-leather) at a very reasonable price at our local Payless store.

It took a while to test my custom Orthotics with these shoes but they are now working very well! I love Payless due to the fact they carry non-leather options and shoes that are reasonably priced! I highly recommend them to anyone looking for cheap but durable shoes.

Not bad for the price

Comments about Rugged Outback Men's Dakota Hiker:

Im a new customer to payless, and I like the prices way more than what shoes go for in name brand shops. As for this shoe, I was able to get it for very cheap with sales, promo codes, etc. It fits very well, has high quality shoe laces, and contrary to what ive heard about payless shoes in the past it has not fallen apart. It is constructed no better or worse than a main brand shoe. It has a decent appearance, and ive even worn them to work a few times. I have hiked in them too, and they hold up well. Great value shoe, that doesn't look value.

Terrible Quality

Comments about Rugged Outback Men's Dakota Hiker:

I've bought two pairs of these shoes and both have fallen apart in the same way.
I know that the price point is low on these shoes - so I wasn't expecting an extremely rugged shoe, I just wanted something to walk around work in. My work doesn't put stress on shoes - it's level concrete and occasional gravel only.
When the inner sole on the first pair collapsed in on itself and the upper part of the shoe started to pull away from the sole around the edges after just a couple of weeks I thought maybe I'd just got a bad pair.
The second pair did exactly the same in just a couple of months..
Turns out the sole isn't solid - it's a lattice that rips and crumbles quickly and soon stops supporting your foot. The metal support strip in the sole even broke in half on my second pair.
It's a shame because I like the style of these shoes.

Excellent, Very Tough Shoe

Comments about Rugged Outback Men's Dakota Hiker:

I bought a pair of these shoes last year and love them. They are very well insulated, very strong, with excellent traction going up and down trails. I just returned from hiking some of the more demanding trails at Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks. In particular, some parts of the trails at Bryce Canyon had thick mud due to snowmelt that created a very strong suction and made traversing these spots very difficult. If ever there was a situation where a shoe was likely to show strains after several days of this kind of trekking, this was it, but these shoes showed no strain at all. I'd recommend them to anyone.

Great value for the money

Comments about Rugged Outback Men's Dakota Hiker:

Went looking for a cheap pair of shoes to replaces some awful Nikes that were falling apart after a few months and found these. They're nice and comfortable, keep my feet warm in the cold winter, and are almost like boots so they are good for walking through the snow. They've been through the harshest part of the winter so far, a trip through the airport, and getting thrown around the apartment and are still holding up very well. Definitely worth the price.
