My son needed running shoes for track. It's middle school so they just wear regular sneakers and not cleat-style. Nowadays they need sneakers for school P.E., sneakers for indoor soccer, sneakers for outside school, cleats for other sports. It's never ending. I decided on these because of the price and my son loved the bright color of the orange. It's more of a neon which he loves. He normally wears a size 10 men's but we went up a half size to 10.5 as one should for running shoes. My son has been wearing them for running a few miles a week for practice plus track meets on weekends for the past 3 weeks and says they are amazingly comfortable which I was worried about given the low price. If payless continues with this I may never pay $140 for the name brand running sneakers for my kid whose feet are growing so fast. It has only been 3 weeks but the shoes still look brand new.

I'm a middle aged man that runs 2 miles every day religiously. I bought my first pair of Champion running shoes in 2010 after reading a Consumer Reports article that rated them highly & a good value. I replace them every year, I switched styles several times because they stopped making the kind I'd bought the year before, but was always happy with what I got. Not so this time, the padding is no where near good enough for a running shoe, as someone else wrote they feel like slippers. Maybe good enough for walking or wearing around the house, totally no good for running. I'm very disappointed.

Excellent Shoe

By

from Kentucky

Comments about Champion Men's Gusto Runner:

I bought these shoes for teaching and they're absolutely perfect, especially for the price. These shoes are very comfortable and easy to wear all day, while walking 5 to 10 miles throughout my class periods. The inside of the shoe is breaking down some, but I've worn these constantly and they've easily been worth the small amount of money I paid for them. For the cost, this is one of the best pair of shoes I've come across.

A decent shoe but overpriced.

By

from Bossier City La.

Comments about Champion Men's Gusto Runner:

I wear these almost daily for my normal activities and also for the gym. I have this pair for approximately 2 years, they are starting to look worn but still functional. I'm 67, a child would have worn them out in 6 months.

Perfect at first

By

from Elizabethtown, KY

Comments about Champion Men's Gusto Runner:

I loved these shoes at first. Lightweight, very comfortable, good arch support. Less than two months has gone by, I wear them maybe 4 hours a week total. After removing my socks today I saw a black substance attached to my white socks. I felt inside the shoe only to find holes where my three smallest toes made holes in the lining. I thought I had found the best shoe until today. The holes were obviously getting bigger each time I wore the shoes.

Lite as a feather!

By

from Topeka, KS

Comments about Champion Men's Gusto Runner:

Have had these for about two years and about to buy some more in a different color. This is the lightest running shoe I have EVER experienced and has a good bang for your buck! So lite on your feet, they take some getting used to, but they are very comfortable with good air flow. The only two cons I can mention is the inner sole of the memory foam is starting to wear thin, but the rest of the shoe's integrity is holding up. I generally use these for sprint drills, jogging, and workouts, so they have more than earned their keep. Over time, some of the black is rubbing off around the toe of the shoe, but for the purposes I use them, that's superficial. Like I mentioned, about to get another pair and that says something about the product in my book!

Best workout shoe for three price

By

from West VA

Comments about Champion Men's Gusto Runner:

I use these for everything from heavy weight training to running and they've never let me down. The soles are soft and flexible once you rough them up a bit (they are very slick out of the box) and the shoe is suitable enough to be abused and washed regularly. I've never had any trouble from them and actually have trouble getting rid of them because I like them so much. I kept the first pair for around 10 months before replacing them with the same style in a different color. Definitely a best buy!

ugly, and cheap

Comments about Champion Men's Gusto Runner:

At first these shoes were ok, sure they were very ugly, and desperately trying to be good, but they were comfortable and did their purpose(running and athletics) up until the 4th month. The 4th month i realized that the shoes literally had a green tint on the bottom from grass, this also coupled with the small cavities in the sole that are supposed to allow it to flex being eroded away because of the material, definitely NOT rubber, being cheap and to soft to withstand friction with the ground. also, just to add, after i realized this i decided they were used enough to just ruin the rest of the way on my skate board, i know they aren't skateboarding shoes but still, because the material on the bottom was way to soft, every single fall was like hitting the ground directly. to add more, in the rain, these were finally completely ruined after the sole fell off(after only 5 months).

Like wearing slippers

By

Comments about Champion Men's Gusto Runner:

I can't attest to the value of these as a running shoe. I bought them to have something light and comfortable for working on my feet all day. These are perfect for that. They are the lightest and most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever owned. It feels like wearing a comfy pair of bedroom slippers. I will definitely be buying them again. I have had them for about a year now, and I just replaced the laces but they are otherwise in great condition. The outer edge of the heel is starting to wear out, but still very usable. As light as they were, I didn't even expect them to last six months, so it has been a pleasant surprise that I can still use them. If I had to think of any con for these shoes, it might be that there is absolutely no toe protection. Really, the toe protection is about the equivalent of a pair of socks. So if you kick something or drop something on your toe, you will really feel it in these.
