I just received these wonderful shoes. I am so glad that I chose to get them. I absolutely love the danskos but they are very pricey so it makes it difficult for me to purchase them; however, with these they present with the same look and are easy on my budget. I know that these will work for volunteer and clinical. I will be getting me two more pairs of these shoes. :)

Very unhappy with this shoe
I bought these shoes less than a month ago... and had shopped around for weeks before spending the little bit of money I did have on what I thought was going to be a perfect shoe. I liked the look, and the fit at first.. but after two weeks of having them, and having worn them less than 6 or 7 times (I bought them to be my everyday work shoes) I noticed the material on the top was not only creasing, but peeling, and my feet were sliding around inside, all over the place. I have since rolled my ankle more than once trying to just walk in them. I am low budget which means if I spend the little bit of money I do have on shoes, I am stuck with them for a while. I took money out of my utilities this week to be able to buy a different pair, because this simply will not due. I am not limping because I have rolled my ankle in these AGAIN! Very upset about the quality of this shoe. I have NEVER had this horrid of a shoe in my life. BAD QUALITY!

very comfortable BUT... not built kitchen tough!
So I was pretty excited to have finally found an affordable work shoe that didn't look so bulky. I love how they cover my entire foot and I never slipped once wearing these, which makes me feel safe in the kitchen. The biggest problem I had with these was that they did last a couple (2) months without showing severe signs of wear already. Really bummed out about that. Not sure if I should spray some kind of water repellent to protect the low quality material?? I just wish they would have made to withstand a bit more. Not sure I want to purchase again. Maybe if they make it out of leather or something a bit more durable. I guess I still have to keep looking for the right work shoe

Comfy but bulky
While these are very comfortable I would prefer they be a little more tailored. They are voluminous in structure and feel like big boats on my feet. The top lines should be more tapered and less bulbous.

Poorly made but comfy
I bought these in November and it is now February. Initially these are very tight on the upper instep of the foot but break in after about 10 wears (ultra thin stocking socks work well with these during that period). By December (just one month) I started to notice cracking in the material. It is now February and the cracking so bad I had water come through the upper part of my shoe yesterday while walking through light snow, and now need to replace them. I'm very disappointed because these are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned, the cushioning is amazing! I will buy another pair, but hopefully someone from Payless reads this and gets the ball rolling on some better material for the upper portion of the show that will resist cracking.

love these shoes!
I have been in the service industry for decades and have always worn Danskos. I bought a pair of the Gretchens and am so glad I did. Firstly, they are a better value. Secondly, they are more comfortable than Danskos. Thirdly, they are more durable. I have even purchased an additional pair to wear with casual clothes.
