looks good but will not last
These are good looking and comfortable, but do not last. My 9 year old has been wearing them to school for about 5 months and they are worn out. The outside is coming apart and the inside liner is worn all the way through.

Third purchase
Unfortunately my 7 yr. old has a wide foot. It is very hard to find shoes in a wide width. Payless used to carry such a big selection in reg. and wide styles. These are the only ones I buy at payless. I had good luck with these. They need to be replaced every season, but for the low price it is worth it. Just wish they had some nicer styles in wide to choose from. Hopefully , they will listen to their customers.

Good shoes but need to buy two pairs for each size
Pros: Let me start by saying my son loves these shoes. He has extra wide feet. He plays sports so he is able to get these on quickly, they are comfortable enough for him, and they look good.
Cons: These fall apart quickly and not just in any one area. This is the second year we've bought these (so we're on our fourth pair). Holes are worn in the sides and the soles are almost worn through. In earlier pairs, some had the bottom come completely off. Any person planning on buying these should plan on buying two in each size. Also, not as much cushion or arch support as I'd like. It's difficult to find size wide shoes that look nice and have everything (comfort, arch support, nice look, quality, etc..) but these have worked well enough for us. For next year though, we did go with a New Balance shoe (but they tie so we'll see how that goes).

Started out Well
When we bought these sneakers my son loved them.
They were very comfortable for him and he wanted to wear them everywhere.
After a month, the front right sole began to detach from the sneaker. We tried to glue it back on, but then it just got worse.
We were forced to buy an alternate pair of sneakers to have him finish out camp.
Was very disappointed.

An answer to my prayers
Shoe shopping has always been on the top of my son's dread list , second only to going to the doctor! The reason being that it has always been extremely difficult to find a pair that isn't uncomfortable or even painful to him. Not only are his feet comparable to The Flintstone's feet, one of his feet is bigger than the other PLUS he hasn't learned to tie shoelaces. Feet are so important and proper fitting supportive shoes are an absolute necessity. I have spared no expense trying to find him a pair that he doesn't hate to wear everyday. Every popular name brand you can think of I've bought, time and time again! He's never thought it was possible to ever feel comfort so he would simply say they feel fine in order to appease me and be done shopping. Days later he would be complaining about how badly the shoes were hurting him, and how he doesn't want to wear them. He would even have to take them off during class while at school!
Now the answer to my prayers....
We finally tried the Payless Smartfit Hustle runner athletic shoes!!! Literally from the moment he slipped these on ( no shoestrings!) he was ecstatic and started running around the store! He never wanted to take them off! He wore them everyday until they were falling apart! We have since had to replace them with a new pair, and will continue to replace them as this active child somehow tears the soles, toes even the bottom off of his shoes! He loves them and refuses to wear anything else! I'm so happy to have finally found a comfortable pair of shoes for him and for under $20!

Great shoes
My 5 year old has a shoe size that is hard to find anywhere but Pay less's smartfit shoes. He is also very hard on shoes. These sneakers fit him great and are very comfortable and durable. He has worn them everyday for 4 months and they still look as good as they did the day we bought them. I guess the other reviewer just got a bad pair because there is nothing wrong with the pair my son has.
