In 1956, Polish immigrant cousins Shaol and Louis Pozez introduced the concept of selling footwear in a self-select environment - a revolutionary idea for that era. No one could have envisioned, however, that over the course of the next six decades this concept would evolve into one of the most trusted brands for affordable family footwear known in households across the world today as Payless.
In February 2019, Payless made the difficult decision to scale back its North American operations and file Chapter 11 Bankruptcy amidst a challenging retail climate. Although the company’s footprint and structure have changed significantly, our commitment to providing high-quality, affordable footwear and unparalleled customer service remains unchanged.
The Payless brand continues to thrive across its extensive global network spanning over 35 countries worldwide. Today Payless serves millions of consumers in approximately 750 brick-and-mortar stores throughout Central America, the Caribbean, South America as well as parts of Asia, Middle East and North Africa.
